FAQs
What camera and lens do you use? What do you use to edit your photos and videos?
My current setup includes a Sony RX1R ii, A7iii, and RX100V. Currently, I only own one lens, the Sony FE 50mm f/1.8, but I hope obtain something more versatile such as a 24-70 soon.
Regarding software, I utilize a number of Adobe programs ( Photoshop, Lightroom, Illustrator, Indesign, and After Effects), as well as Final Cut Pro X sparingly.
Within Lightroom and Photoshop, I use the respective VSCO Film Presets/Actions as a starting point for color correcting my photos. Unfortunately, they’ve long been discontinued, but there are a number of similar alternatives available.
As for video, I’ve gotten the majority of my motion graphic templates, transitions, element generators, and call-out packs from motionarray.com, or searching the web for free material.
What are your favorite movies?
I have quite a few…
Saving Private Ryan (1998), Django Unchained (2012), The Dark Knight (2008), Slumdog Millionaire (2008), Gone Girl (2014), Project X (2012), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018), WALL-E (2008), Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), 28 Days Later (2002), Belly (1998), Dallas Buyers Club (2013), 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016), Precious (2009), Scarface (1983), Boyz n the Hood (1991), The Revenant (2015), I Am Legend (2007) and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014).
What are your favorite books, and how do you read so fast?
Born a Crime by Trevor Noah and Educated by Tara Westover! I don’t read particularly fast, in fact when compared to my contemporaries, I’m a rather slow reader. I utilize audible when reading most of my books.
Favorite quote?
“With success comes the temptation to tell oneself a story, to round off the edges, to cut out your lucky breaks and add a certain mythology to it all. You know, that arcing narrative of Herculean struggle for greatness against all odds: sleeping on the floor, being disowned by my parents, suffering for my ambition. It’s a type of storytelling in which eventually your talent becomes your identity and your accomplishments become your worth. But a story like this is never honest or helpful.” - Ryan Holiday
